Question by WILLIAM G: Why is the Apocrypha in some bibles and not others?

I'm a confirmed Anglican, and have seen NRSV Bibles in Church with The Apocrypha,

Why is this book only in some and not all Bibles? Does the Church of England actually read from the Apocrypha? What is it's purpose? Surely this addition is against the teaching of Revelation? Please can someone enlighten me?

Many thanks

The Anglican is not the only church that recognizes the validity of the Apocrypha. The Catholic church as well as a few protestant churches use it as well.

Here is a great web page that is about how/why the Bible was canonized, and why the Apocrypha was not. Don't be afraid of the 'anabaptist' in the name, it isn't preachy.
