Question by Lucifer: Spanish translation in passive voice?

In passive voice, I know that a sentence like 'The books were read" goes like
"Los libros se leyó"

But what about 'The books have been read'? Would it go 'se han sido leyendos'? Also, whenever you have the form haber + ser in the passive, how do you know to what forms you're supposed to conjugate haber and ser?

Your example should be
Los libros se leyeron. OR if you want to use the past form of ser:
Los libros fueron leídos.
What you have means something like this: He read the books to himself.

The books have been read. You can make the passive with se OR you can use ser but not both as you have in your translation. "se han sido leyendos" would mean something like this: They have been reading to themselves.
Los libros han sido leídos. Don't use se here.

Ser plus the PAST participle (you have been using the PRESENT participle) makes the passive voice. The thing being acted upon becomes the subject, so in your examples since libros is plural, you need haber to be plural. The same is true in your first example; you need to change se leyó to se leyeron.
