What are the rules for getting a job reference of an employer ?
I ve just got a new job and now need to quit my job.
I need 2 references but i dont want to get one from this employer i have right now. and the company policy states they dont hold open references for ppl who leave them. Can i legally say i dont want to give a reference from them ? thanks x

sure you can. if you weren't there but a few weeks, it's no big deal. any future employers may ask what you did for the "missing" time on your resume, but you can always use just a month date on your resume. unless it's a gov't job--then you better tell them. they can arrest you for lying on a gov't job app and i would assume that it as the federal, state and city level.
